CUBO appoints new Executive Director to lead the next phase of strategic growth

04 October 2024      Bethany Hancock, CUBO Communications Officer

CUBO (College and University Business Officers), the UK’s leading membership association for campus and commercial services professionals in higher education, has announced the appointment of Nysa Pradhan as its new executive director.

With over a decade of leadership experience in the not-for-profit sector, Nysa brings a proven track record in change leadership, driving innovation, strategic, financial, and operational management, especially within professional membership organisations with a focus on ‘making a positive difference’.  She will assume her role on 1st October, working alongside the outgoing executive director Jan Capper who retires at the end of November after 7 years of dedicated service.

Jan Capper’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening CUBO’s influence within the higher education sector. Nysa’s appointment builds on this legacy, as CUBO continues its mission to enhance campus experiences and develop best practices for the sector.

Kirsty Woodward, CUBO Chair, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Nysa to the CUBO team. Her wealth of experience, strategic vision, and passion for the not-for-profit sector will be invaluable as we continue our work to promote excellence in campus and commercial services.”

Nysa Pradhan, CUBO Executive Director, said: “I am truly excited at the prospect of being Executive Director for CUBO and I am fortunate in knowing that I will be working with passionate and dedicated professionals across the sector. I want to ensure that CUBO, our members and partners continue to thrive by using all of our collective expertise and experiences in driving excellence in campus and commercial services within the sector.”

Prior to joining CUBO, Nysa was the Chief Operating Officer at the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A). She started her career in research consulting and project management, before moving into the charity sector where she has many years of experience in the management and implementation of educational and strategic programmes for several professional and vocational training institutions, with global operations. Nysa has a double Masters; a MA in Educational Leadership from University College London (UCL) and an Executive MBA from University of West London.

One of Nysa’s first major engagements in her new role will be leading the upcoming CUBO winter conference in November,. The event will provide vital insights and networking opportunities for commercial services leaders, addressing the financial and operational challenges facing the higher education sector.
