Campus and commercial services are vital to university and college life. Our members are responsible for student residential accommodation and residence life programmes; catering, hospitality and retail; sport & physical activity; academic and commercial conferencing; events, including graduations; print & design; merchandising, soft facilities management and various other services. They may run hotels, arts centres, nurseries and even the university’s digital services. By connecting, supporting and developing these professionals, CUBO helps to create excellent campus experiences for all.
The 2023 CUBO Residence Life Conference had record attendance - a sign that universities are realising how important residence life teams are to student wellbeing and outcomes. There were inspiring keynotes from Dr Dominique Thompson, Natasha Devon MBE and Voxburner, but for many the highlight was hearing first-hand from the student winners of this year’s Residence Life Star Awards. Breakouts included the cost of living crisis, supporting Indian students, meaningful surveys, student volunteering, EDI, sport and physical activity, consent education and sustainability. The networking was amazing and on the evening of 4 May, the annual Residence Life Star Awards celebrated the student and professional stars of 2023, with Natalie Cherry from the University of Leeds winning CUBO-Acuho-I Residence Life New Professional of the Year!
Join CUBO Residential Life & the ACUHO-I Global Initiatives Network for this joint webinar about innovation and technology being used in student accommodation and residential life around the world.

What’s more, they are more discerning and want carbon emission, calorie and allergy information at their finger tips. This round table explores current and new technology coming down the line, like age verification by facial recognition, robot waiters and the ability to pay using your face.
A one-day workshop exploring the different operating models for campus catering, illustrated by case studies from the University of Nottingham, The University of Manchester, University of Glasgow and contract caterers Gather and Gather, and facilitated by the Litmus Partnership consultancy.
