All CUBO members can apply to be a mentee. Your mentor will be an experienced and knowledgeable professional from the CUBO community, volunteering their time to help you progress your learning and career aspirations through 1-2-1 sessions every 6-8 weeks that offer focused guidance and support.

The scheme has closed for 2024. Applications for 2025 will start later this year.
CUBO Mentoring Process
The Mentoring Programme opens for recruitment in November 2024. A limited number of mentee places are available with 25-30 mentoring relationships anticipated in year one of the programme.
It is your responsibility as the mentee to drive the mentoring relationship and it's expected that you will:
The average time spent by mentees is roughly 3 hours per month, though only 1 hour is spent with your mentor. Mentoring pairs are asked to commit to meeting for 1 hour every 6-8 weeks for a period of 9-12 months.
Applications will be open until the targeted number of mentee places has been filled. Please complete the application form, which asks you for information about your experience, where you are looking for support and what you'd like your "game-changing strengths" to be.
We'll match you with a mentor based on the information you provide in your application and your needs as a mentee. You’ll meet for an online “chemistry session” to check the match is right for both of you. If so, you’ll then communicate directly to agree how the mentoring will work in terms of confidentiality, conduct and calendar. We aim to match mentees within 3 months of application, but this may take longer, depending on the availability of a suitable mentor.
The Strive Higher consultancy has worked with CUBO to produce a training video for mentees, explaining what mentoring is, how it will work and how to get the most out of it. If you have additional questions, please contact our Executive Director.
Your mentor will schedule the last session as a review session, and will then let CUBO know that the mentoring relationship has ended. CUBO will ask you for feedback and if you are open to giving a testimonial. Then, update your CV and LinkedIn profile with your additional expertise and experience - and you may also consider becoming a CUBO mentor!
While CUBO mentoring is free and voluntary, it is part of your professional development, so we strongly recommend that you discuss your plans with your line manager.
If you have any more questions, please email the CUBO Executive Director.
