Heritage, hospitality and sustainability at CUBO 2024 Summer conference in Belfast

CUBO’s 2024 Summer Conference will be held in Belfast for the first time, with the focus on innovation and impact.

The programme will be built around innovating and staying relevant to students - keeping pace with emerging trends, providing a modern technology infrastructure – as well as maintaining the workforce and managing uncertainty and resource constraints.

Queens University Belfast look forward to showcasing the city’s legendary hospitality, with the social night including an open top bus tour visiting the city’s Cathedral Quarter for food and drink in some of Belfast’s most historic pubs. The CUBO Awards Dinner will be hosted on the stunning historic campus.

CUBO delegates will be able to see Queen’s University Belfast's newly opened £30m student centre, One Elmwood, and find out about the university’s 3,000 new student rooms on site. A visit to Ulster University’s new Belfast campus is also planned.

Conferencing and events will also feature on the programme. The city has successfully attracted business and leisure tourism and with its unique and fascinating heritage, has been the backdrop to filming many global hits in recent years, including Game of Thrones and Line of Duty.

Belfast ranks in the top 10 most sustainable destinations in the world, achieving several ‘green tourism’ firsts including Queen’s University Belfast becoming the first organisation on the island of Ireland to be given a Green Meetings Gold Award, and Visit Belfast’s ‘Changing the Menu. For Good’ initiative.

The conference will be preceded by a study tour of Irish universities, from Dublin to Belfast.

Caroline Young, Vice-President Students and Corporate Services at Queen’s University Belfast said: “We are delighted and excited to host CUBO 2024 and showcase Ireland and our legendary hospitality to the members.”
