Adrian McGillion and Carol Thomas join CUBO Executive

The CUBO Executive welcomes two new appointments to important key roles.

Adrian McGillion,  Director of Facilities Management at Edgehill University, joins as Membership & Engagement Lead.  Adrian has been in facilities management for over 24 years and in the university sector since 2012, holding a variety of roles from duty manager to director. He is currently accountable for overseeing the operational delivery of a range of hard and soft services, including catering, conferencing, accommodation, and sport and recreation services.

Carol Thomas, Accommodation Services Manager at University of the Arts, London, becomes CUBO's first dedicated Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead, taking over this portfolio from Melissa Browne, Deputy Director of Estates and Commercial Services at the University of Kent, who becomes CUBO Chair Elect while maintaining the Learning and Development portfolio.

Carol has 20 years’ experience as a senior manager within student services, accommodation services, and the voluntary sector.  As well as being the ASRA South East representative, she has served as Chair for UAL Black workers group which evolved into Equality of Minority Staff (GEMS). She is also a member of the B-Mentor network facilitated by UCL and a member of Black Equity Organisation (BEO).

Adrian and Carol join the Board as CUBO enters year two of its three-year post-pandemic strategy refresh, which prioritises increased engagement, recruitment and diversity, including a professional development framework for members and an EDI policy, framework and implementation plan.
